4.5 Stars. Karen Rose is definitely one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense. Her villains are scary, her heroes charming and protective and her heroines are smart and tough. The suspense elements are usually a bit stronger than the romance but there is always a good romance as well.
This one was no exception.

This book had a lot of characters but I never felt confused about who was who and there was more than one villain in this story as well. A few of the previous characters made an appearance but it could definitely be read as a stand alone. The plot of this book kept me guessing on how it would all play out and there were a few surprise twists along the way. The pacing was spot on and it kept me turning the pages to get to the end. My only complaint is that the ending felt a little abrupt so I took off a 1/2 star.

Another great book in the series that left me looking forward to the next one.

Did You Miss Me? The Baltimore Series Book 3 Rose Karen 9780755373994 Books Reviews

I've never read a Karen Rose book that I didn't love. I pre-ordered it months ago and what a pleasant surprise when I woke up a few days ago and it was on my home page! I should never have started reading it when I had work to do because I could not put it down. Stayed up until the wee hours to finish it. Even read a huge portion on my phone while waiting for meetings to start.

I love the main character Daphne. She can be brash. She is a cancer survivor with the scars and wigs to go along with it. I think a lot of people can relate to her. She doesn't have a perfectly perfect little body like most of our heroines in these romance and suspense books. She's strong and intelligent. Our hero, Joseph, is harder to "get to know", but I eventually came around. He's definitely not perfect.

This book has tons of twists and turns. While we know from the beginning who the bad guy is and how he's manipulating everyone, we don't know his full name and his relationship to Daphne. This book kept me guessing until almost the end (I had it narrowed down to two, but wasn't sure until the author revealed it).

Daphne's childhood plays an extremely important part in this book and I won't spoil it by elaborating except to say that it drew me in and I was able to feel the terror she felt as a child.

I think this is one of Karen Rose's best books. I can't wait until the next one!
I'm a fan of Karen Rose. Her style of writing draws me in and keeps me fascinated from beginning to end. While reading this mystery, I felt like a CSI crime solver. The twists and turns are so Ms. Rose. I had never read a story where it seems all characters are personally involved with abductions/kidnappings. The characters are well developed. In fact, I bought this book months ago after completing another of Karen Rose novels because I wanted to get more acquainted with Daphne Montgomery, Carter, Grayson and others.

I love a great murder mystery and this did not disappoint! As I read, I was envisioning every scene...trying to guess what may happen next...whispering in the character's ears trying to offer my knowledge to assist in solving the crimes, etc.. One had to stay sharp and pay close attention to clues to stay ahead of the crew in putting the pieces together and solving the mystery.

Suspenseful...on the edge...shocking thriller of a novel. Very engaging...can't put it down!

Would I recommend this book? Without a doubt and you'd thank me for it later. One hint...look for the unexpected information that may shock you in the end. Wow!
After 'getting to know' Daphne and Joseph in the past 2 books, I was thrilled to see them get their story (I'll be even more excited once Stevie and Clay finally get theirs!)
We first met Daphne Montgomery in "You Belong to Me" as she was Grayson's assistant DA. After "No One Left to Tell", Daphne was promoted to the head DA in the homicide division. Joseph Carter is Grayson's brother and first met Daphne while helping Grayson on a case. Joseph has now moved to Baltimore and teamed up with the local PD in a joint FBI/Police taskforce. When Joseph first met Daphne, he was struck by her 'colorful' personality and larger than life hair. Daphne liked to wear big, colorful clothes and even bigger hair. Now that she's more in the spotlight, she's toned down her look. Another reviewer said that it's never explained why she changed. Actually it is, several times. Without giving away any spoilers, I'll just say she hinted at her past when she helped Paige in the last book. She further explains in this book about her teenage pregnancy, followed by her stifling home life and heartbreak.

So now Daphne is the target of a madman. He kidnaps her son, Ford and starts terrorizing her by bringing up a childhood nightmare. Joseph will do anything to keep Daphne safe. What follows is a intriguing, fast-pased story about a terrible crime and the woman to was strong enough to stay alive.

What I liked I really liked that this time, more than just Joseph was involved in the solving of this case. It seemed like in the past 2 books, the hero did it all himself with very little help from his team mates. This time the hero actually gets to sleep some! I also liked that characters from past books (and series) make an appearance in this book. Don't worry if you've never read other series by this author. While it's obvious there are more stories to tell, you won't be lost.

What I didn't like Maybe it's the human part of me, but I wish there was more revenge against some people from Daphne's past that hurt her the most. Namely, her ex-husband. He's quite the jerk. I wish more had been done about him.

Of all the Baltimore series books, I think I liked this one the most...so far. I've already pre-ordered "Watch Your Back" so I'm hoping that'll be my new favorite )
